Fiber
Why Should I Consume Dietary Fiber?
Why should you consume 25 to 35 grams of dietary fiber daily?
Over the past 50 years or so, numerous studies have demonstrated the relationship between a high fat low fiber diet and various cancers, heart disease, and other health pathology. Such as the Framingham and MRFIT studies, just to name two on heart disease.
Scientists as well as clinical practitioners are just now beginning to realize just how preventable many of our disease patterns are by a healthy diet which must include adequate soluble and insoluble dietary fibers. The average American ingests only six to nine grams of these fibers daily, 1/3 of the recommended, meaning the average American can look forward to an increased risk of a number of disease processes. Including varicose veins, diverticulitis, diverticulitis, body toxicity, heart disease, colon cancers, breast cancers, hemorrhoids, and even more.
